38th World Zionist Congress

In the fall of 2020, the entire world was at a stop. The COVID-19 pandemic prevented international travel and led many governments to impose strong restrictions on gatherings and social events. In the face of these extraordinary circumstances, the WZO was forced to find an alternative method to convene its 38th Zionist Congress. The decision was made to convene the delegates virtually via a dedicated virtual platform. This was the first time in the history of the World Zionist Congress that it did not convene in person.

During the Congress, which took place on October 20-22, 2020, delegates from around the world participated electronically, held committee sessions, and passed several important resolutions –

  1. The admission of the Zionist Federations of Ecuador and Paraguay as members of the WZO.
  2. The empowerment of the Council of World Zionist Youth Movements through appropriate funding and support.
  3. The foundation of a Zionist Youth Congress, where young Zionist leaders will come together and create a platform for Zionist activism.

The rest of the resolutions adopted in the Congress can be found here.

In addition, as part of the 38th World Zionist Congress, new leadership was selected for the National Institutions:

The empowerment of youth movements and the creation of devoted and involved young leadership was and still is one of the core principles of the General Zionist movement.
